Description: Municipality located in the centre of the province of Girona, in the La Selva district, at a height of 181 m above sea level, 17 km from the city of Girona and 12 km from the capital of the La Selva district, Santa Coloma de Farners. Its population of over 5,000 inhabitants is spread out over 16.06 km2. The municipality extends across the land up to the right bank of the river Ter, which acts as a border between it and the municipality of Sant Julià del Llor and Bonmatí. The town is located on a fertile plain on the southern side of the brook of Osor at the point where it discharges into the river Ter. These two water currents form the northern limit. The brook of Osor separates the municipality of Anglès from that of La Cellera de Ter, though these two towns were once in the same municipality. The massif of the Guilleries cuts off the valley in the west, where we find the mountain of Santa Bàrbara, with a height of 854 m. The name Anglès is thought to have its etymological roots in the Latin eclesiis meaning church or churches and referring to the churches in the valley.
