Passeig de Dintre,29 Blanes CP: 17300 tursime@blanes.cat http://www.blanes.net Phone: 972 379 300 Fax: 972 350 677 Description: Blanes is a municipality in the district of La Selva with 36,711 inhabitants and an area of 17.68 km2, giving it a population density of 2,076.41 inhabitants per km2. At an altitude of 13 metres, the municipal district lies to the left of an alluvial plain formed by the outfall of the river Tordera, between the slopes of the Llarga and Montells mountain ranges. The municipality is split by the brook of Blanes or Valdoric, which empties near Palomera, a large rock that juts out into the sea and separates the bay of Blanes in the north from Sabanell beach in the south. There is also a small cove next to the port that gives the latter its name, Punta de Santa Anna. Blanes - and more specifically, the rock of sa Palomera - marks the southernmost point of the Costa Brava. It is said that the Costa Brava and the long beaches of the Maresme are born here. The town has grown in a semi-circular shape that ends at the hill of Sant Joan and the sea, and hence continues in the direction of the Tordera. |
