GLOBUS COSTA BRAVA

In 1997, after a long experience with paragliding, Amancio Sánchez decided to have his first hot-air balloon, "Menjavents", made and set up a company to offer balloon rides along the Costa Brava. Over the years, he has recorded many flying hours and landings in different-sized balloons. He has flown over different areas and cities in Catalonia, Spain and Portugal, and taken part as a pilot in expeditions with the Menjavents, flying over the Sahara desert and the salt lakes of Tunisia. Together with other balloons, it became a piece of history in Marrakech when it took off from the legendary square Djemad EL Fna. Trips all year round. Departure at 8:30 a.m. in the winter and at 7:30 a.m. in the summer. Flights are timed around sunrise and sunset. The balloons are inflated first thing in the morning, which is the best time for flying. It takes approximately 30 minutes to inflate the balloon, a sight not to be missed! Once inflated, we take off and the wind lifts us up to heights that can sometimes reach up to 2,000 m. The flight lasts for one to one and a half hours and we drink at toast to it along the way with cava accompanied by coca d'ametlles, a typical almond pastry. A 4x4 vehicle picks us up from our landing point and takes us back to where we began to celebrate the experience with a typical farmhouse breakfast. The activity ends at lunch time, at around 1 p.m.
