The Pinya de Rosa Botanical Garden in Blanes was a project undertaken courtesy of Dr Ferran Riviere de Caralt, practically from 1945 onwards when he purchased the estate.

The botanical collection features more than 7000 species covering a wide range of genres. The cactus garden includes both columnar species, great candelabras several metres in height, and also globular species arranged in their hundreds around the grounds.

The garden is a living entity, and each year some 1500 species are planted, including new varieties and seeds of other existing species added to increase the collection.
