The Harvestmen Track is a short route linking the foothills of Les Guilleries with Santa Coloma de Farners, and Vidreres in the heart of the La Selva plateau. This is a route which commemorates a major event in Catalan history: when the Spanish troops were billeted on the Catalans during the war against the French, which ended with the Treaty of the Pyrenees, the peasants revolted against the demands and abuses of the military. The first revolts took place after the sacking and burning of such towns as Riudarenes, Santa Coloma de Farners and Amer. We suggest covering the route in just one day, walking the 17 kilometres while recalling this episode in Catalan history. The itinerary can be rounded off with a visit to the main towns on the way: Santa Coloma de Farners, Riudarenes, Sils and Vidreres.
