Chapel of Mare de Déu d’Argimon
It is a little-known fact that, concealed beneath the impressive 18th-century building of the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu d’Argimon, lies the castle chapel, which by the 10th century already stood proud on this mountain, one of the great vantage points of the county.
This small, ancient chapel is entered through a doorway with a double semicircular arch. It consists of two parallel naves partially embedded in the mountain rock. The first nave is rectangular, while the second is terminated by a semicircular apse. Remains of murals and a careful restoration make this little gem of Romanesque architecture a must-see attraction in the county of Selva.
