Chapel of Santa Margarida
The inhabitants of Vilobí d’Onyar are extremely devoted to the Romanesque Chapel of Santa Margarida, set in a small wood to the south of the town. This devotion is not a recent phenomenon since the Romanesque building dates from the turn of the 13th century.
They have looked after it so well that it has not been necessary to carry out significant alterations or reconstructions, except for the west façade, on which the doorway, bell gable and porch are located, all built in the 17th century. The remaining elements of the chapel (nave, apse, windows, and roof) are from the original Romanesque building. It constitutes the essence of Romanesque architecture in the heart of the Selva Plain.
