A document from 1427 says that in Osor, as a result of the recent earthquakes, “the bridges were broken and the church was demolished”. Although this church was immediately rebuilt, the one we see today was constructed in the 18th century, reversing the orientation of the original church. This being the case, everybody believed that practically nothing remained of the original Romanesque construction, consecrated in 1125 by the Bishop of Vic.

However, when some adjoining buildings were demolished the edge of the one of the arms of the Romanesque transept was left exposed, with a window, and decorated with Lombard bands. Today we see this element on one of the side walls of the church. This Romanesque touch was the icing on the cake for a town like Osor, which offers you reminders of its mediaeval past at each turn.
