Font Picant d’Amer
The minero-medicinal properties of the waters of Font Picant have been known since the year 1884. It was declared a public spring in 1903 and became a well-known pilgrimage site, culminating in the ambitious construction of houses-garden and a hotel towards the end of the 1920s.
Its popularity and the nearby train in Amer led to the creation of a spa and hotel next to the spring, the Hotel Palatín, which would be its most noteworthy building. But it would all end up disappearing in the early 1960s, with the exception of the bottling plant (from the well-known brand of Fonter).
Now it is a very busy place, where you can sample its fizzy waters directly from the spring itself, which have a highly distinctive flavour. The area where the spring is located, alongside the Brugent river, is a peacefully, shady spot for a pleasant stroll, which can be reached from the Carrilet Greenway.
